Yanmar SD50 Saildrive watercock
I write this primarily in the hopes that some future boat owner struggling with the same issue will find this and save themselves some trouble.
A major struggles in my life for the last few months has been with an inanimate object. I have spent hours, maybe even days battling with hammer, screwdriver and wrench in hand against two locked up valves to gain mere 32nds of a turn at a time, getting to about 7 turns a side before loosing any forward progress. Keep in mind that these are not just any ordinary valves... they separate all of the water in the ocean from the interior of our boat... a relatively important valve.
Well, we had our boat hauled last week and I had the opportunity to try another route. It turns out that a few turns with a wrench to remove the seacock form the Yanmar SD50 Saildrive and a cup full of muriatic acid can do far more in 10 minutes than I can do with 24 hours of my life. Now, they are fully functional and back in place.
